Oak Hollow Campground – High Point, NC

Oak Hollow Family Campground: Site C-8

I think I have found the perfect campsite in the perfect campground in all the United States. Granted, I haven’t been to all the United States yet, but this one knocked our sock off.  Everything we look for in a campground is provided at Oak Hollow Family Campground in Highpoint, North Carolina.  Electric (50/30 amp), water, sewer, cable, and free wi-fi, oh my! On top of all that, the campground is located on a lake with amazing sunrise and sunset views.  And for $30 per night, it’s a steal.

Sections A, B, C

Full service, 30 or 50 amp, water, sewer, 77 channel cable with WiFi internet:
$30.00 per night up to four persons, $5.00 ea. additional over four, max. 6-persons per site

Section D

30 amp, water, sewer:
$25.00 per night up to four persons, $5.00 additional over four, max. 6-persons per site

Tent Platforms

16′ x 16′ raised platform:
$25.00 per night up to four persons, $5.00 additional over four, max. 6-persons per site

We lucked out with “the best site in the campground” according to the campground manager. Because the park does not take reservations- first come first serve, getting a primo site is not too difficult if you’re coming in on a Monday or Tuesday. We snagged site#8 in Section C  and I must agree that it is by far the best site in the campground. It’s lakefront with a nice grassy area and  fishing dock directly in front of the site.  It’s also parallel to the lake so that we finally get a great view from our bedroom window. Usually the kids have the awesome view due to most sites running perpendicular to the water.  A few yards to the east is a nice swing-set and beside that is a large pavilion area perfect for group cookouts.  Within a very short walk, is a bathhouse just behind our campsite. To the West, more beach and lake.  In fact the closest neighbor is behind us, no one to the left or right of the site. (The campground map is not accurate at all!).  As a bonus, checkout is not until 4pm! Wow, we get to sleep in! Yeah! We stayed a week but you are allowed to stay up to 21 nights.

The only negative and you definitely should be ready, is this site in particular is not level. I’m not sure if it’s the designated “cement block” for this site, but one was left on the picnic table and we definitely needed it. We have boards and the ugly orange Lego type blocks but they were no match. We finally decided to give the cement block a try and sure enough, it worked. Save yourself some time and plan ahead. It took us a good 30 minutes to get it right.

Other sites that will also appeal to those wanting the best views are: B section sites 12-15, the tent sites 7-13 in A section, and the following sites in section C: 8, 15-16, 18-19, 23, and 25.

Other amenities include a campground swimming pool (Id bracelets required), boat launch, marina, and world-class Tennis Center and Golf in the park!
