Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area located in Flagler Beach, Florida has sweeping, dune views from many of their beachfront campsites overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Rv and Tent camping is $28/night and booked through Reserve America up to 11 months in advance. This Florida State Park is extremely difficult to reserve year round, especially in the Winter with migrating snowbirds. Campers in the know get online promptly at 8am EST when available sites are released to the public. Fortunately, there are cancellations and you can usually get a site by checking the Reserve America site daily a couple of weeks before your trip. I find lunchtime and early evening give the best chances for cancellations.
The park has a total of 34 campsites of which the odd-number sites are beachfront. The second row is not as desirable as the campground is sandy to say the least and with the ocean breeze, you get the beach in your bathing suit (along with any crevice exposed or otherwise including inside your RV) experience without the beautiful Atlantic views to balance it all out! I also want to point out- starting with site 25, most RVs will not fit in these shorter sites. Many don’t exceed 20ft. The only other regret I have with this otherwise enjoyable campground is the access gate. It is secured with a padlock that requires you to get out and unlock it, drive through the gate, and then get back out to lock it back. Trust me, it gets old after the first couple of days.
The campground also has a bathhouse with washer and dryers that sit outside. Normally, this would not be ideal but fortunately you can enjoy the ocean views while doing your laundry. The picture of Chick Magnet was snapped while my laundry was spinning behind me!
